Maya Podejma is a Polish-American freelance dance artist based in Hannover, Germany. She graduated from SUNY Purchase with a BFA in Dance Performance. Maya has performed works by Norbert De La Cruz III, Hannah Garner, Johan Inger, Victor Quijada, Mario Schröder, and Doug Varone. She has premiered her choreography at The Dance Theater Lab at Purchase College, Taipei National University of the Arts, and while in residency at Creature Space NY. She has since also performed her work at festivals including The 7th Contemporary Dance Festival „Compartments Dance Project”, The Fonderie Follonica Festival, and Festiwal Tańca w Nieznane. Maya believes in the role of an artist as one that should not be taken lightly, always striving to dive deep into her own craft while paying attention to surrounding climatic circumstances. Her work highlights the bizarre, physicalizes dream-like reality,  and explores the restlessness in not knowing.

Performance:
caress me in cellular fields of misery is about our inseparable relationships with the world of technology and how we’ve committed to a future that’s been decided, rather than meticulously crafted. One dancer occupies the stage for 15 minutes, going through stages of compliance, fear, and a desire for divergence. Using breath, props, and tactfully crafted audio, the result is a piece that demands individual reflection.
