Sam Therapy makes Queer Noise with a DIY philosophy. The name says it all: music works as a form of therapy, an exorcism performed with analogue synthesizers. personal confession meets industrial coldness. Their introspective lyrics are sometimes screamed, sometimes moaned. Otherwise, one probably wouldn’t hear them well because of distortion and feedback. Pain becomes sonic material. Through synthesized chaos, they are trying to find a language for the struggle with depression, sickness, near-death experiences, and gender dysphoria. Their current album answers a question they have desperately asked themselves again and again: do i deserve to be hurt? The answer might not be pleasurable, but one has to hear it.
